You must have:
- Completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education obtaining at least 36 credits per year, or
- Obtained an Associates (or higher) degree, or
- Obtained a Paraprofessional Certificate through the Work Keys program
PURPOSE To i mprove student achievement by providing i nstructional and non-instructional support to students under the supervision and guidance of a l icensed teacher and/or school administrator; may function i n an i nstructional setting separate from the teacher, exercising a considerable degree of skill with supervision within the framework of a teacher-planned and evaluated program; assists i n providing a safe, healthy environment for students; and performing a variety of general clerical duties.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives supervision from Administrator and may receive guidance and direction from Administrative Assistant and/or l icensed staff. Exercises no supervision.

Support i ndividual students IEPs (Individual Education Plans), behavior support plans and other student plans. ? Assist with supervision of students i n classroom ? Assist with communicating student expectations ? Administer school-wide assessments ? Behavior Management - Implement district and/or building approved behavior interventions/management (i.e. PBS, CPC, Calming Corners, etc.) ? Data Input ? Assist i n establishing a positive l earning environment and respond to the individual needs of students
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
? Assist teachers i n the social and educational development of the students ? Implement district mandated i ntervention programs under teacher guidance. This i ncludes but i s not l imited to the following: assessing, placement, preparing materials, teaching and monitoring the progress of students i n small group instruction ? Provide teachers data to document student progress ? Understand and maintain district guidelines regarding safety and confidentiality ? Provide students a safe and secure environment at all times. This may i nclude playground supervision, crosswalk duty, cafeteria duty, monitor before school and small group management ? Clerical support and simple maintenance and operation of school equipment and supplies ? Maintain a confidential, non-preferential, non-judgmental manner towards the students, staff and program ? Work with a variety of students and demonstrate a willingness to gain the information and training necessary to work effectively ? Employ good j udgment i n a variety of situations, i ncluding emergencies ? Develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, staff and general public ? Prepares i nstructional materials related to area of assignment ? Supervising students on the playground, i n the cafeteria and at crosswalks ? Administer minor first aid ? Comprehend and follow oral and written i nstructions and complete work within established timelines ? EVALUATION
Performance of this j ob will be evaluated i n accordance with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Sherwood School District 88J and Oregon School Employees Association Chapter #103.
